LESSONS: Strings

Piano Piano Piano Piano Piano

For any musical pursuit, the opportunity to rehearse and perform with others makes the process of learning all the more satisfying and enjoyable. Unlike the piano and guitar family of stringed instruments, studying violin, viola, cello, and bass (bass violin), is part of most school curricula, starting around 5th - 6th grade. In addition to benefitting from the opportunity to play with others, the 2-3 days per week of in-school ensemble rehearsal increases the amount of supervised training by a significant amount. Piano and guitar have the advantage of being able serve as independent solo instruments - whereas with the violin family, this is less so. However, the advantage of in-school ensemble training is highly valuable, making this family of instruments an excellent choice for students.

To the rightBelow are recordings of a few compositions of mine for string quartet: violin-violin- viola-cello.
